Abbey Toot

Abbey is an actor, director and teacher, as well as Company Manager for PlayMakers Repertory Company in Chapel Hill, NC. Abbey is an adjunct professor of Acting at USCB and has taught at UNC Chapel Hill and UC Irvine. She coaches acting, auditioning, voice and speech, physical storytelling, acting for the camera, and she teaches piano and private voice lessons. She received her MFA in Acting from the University of California-Irvine, her BS in Theater Performance from the University of Evansville, and is one of the first certified teachers of Miller Voice Method. Abbey was mentored by John Patrick, hosted at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and is a member of VASTA. Additional training includes Fitzmaurice Voicework and The Emotional Body with Laura Bond. Breath and story telling are central to Abbey’s approach to music and to acting. After spending years acting in Chicago, Abbey is delighted to be back in the south where she enjoys long walks outside with her husband and their amazing rescue greyhound dog, Twyla.
