Curriculum

Teach through genuine curiosity rather than dogma.

Cultivate your unique way of teaching mVm.

Immerse yourself in mVm exercises and techniques…

  • Integrate voice, breath, intention, POV, movement and emotional life in one approach.

  • Intentionally shift breath habits that sabotage your intention.

  • Focus on the audience’s experience of your communication rather than just the performer’s experience.

  • Learn the originating philosophies that drive the work and the guiding principles of an mVm teacher. Develop pedagogical skills that help promote the spirit of curiosity and the desire for the unknown in your students. Define how to bring your unique self and perspective to being an mVm Teacher, embracing your role in the evolution of the work.

  • What Active Breath is and why it is the underlying skill for the whole of mVm work.

Explore the various Breath Dilemmas or inefficiencies, how they might have originated, what their objectives are, and how they might reveal themselves in a student or communicator.

  • Understand, Embody, and Teach components of the work, from the fundamental physical skills to integration for transparent communication. Get tested on your knowledge and receive feedback on your teaching.

  • Acquire the basic knowledge an mVm voice teacher needs to begin teaching the work.

  • How we teach our students to embody the work and how this relates to why an audience pays attention—or doesn’t.

  • Learn how to use the camera as an objective tool to identify communication habits that help or diminish your impact on the audience.

  • Learn to embody and guide the steps of mVm’s multi-faceted memorization process and how it impacts scene integration.

    • Thinkific Course videos, text, and quizzes all guided by a live Faculty member.

    • mVm Teacher’s Handbook

    • Mentoring - Throughout the certification process, you have mentorship sessions with a round robin of mVm Trainers.

    • Presence Training Videos – Once you have completed the in-person intensive, you will get lifetime access to the mVm Presence Training video series. This allows you to do the work with Scott anytime you like.

    • Live teaching opportunities (not mandatory, but available) are student-led, mVm Faculty-supervised mVm classes.

    • Virtual cohort hangout time/office hours once per month where you can pop in to ask questions and talk through mVm philosophical principles with Scott Miller and other mVm teachers.

    • Elective virtual classes scheduled on an adhoc basis that cover topics of interest to the cohort, including skills of intelligibility and specific strategies when coaching mVm with corporate clients.
